On December 14-16, 2021, Education Finland cluster took over the second floor of the Finland Pavilion. There were three days of exciting programme showcasing Finnish education expertise.

Speaker: Inkeri Ruokonen, professor of early childhood education, Turku University

Guests will hear about the key principles of Finnish early childhood education and care. They will have a chance to follow demonstration on teaching early mathematics in Finnish early childhood education teacher training school operated by Turku University. This will be followed by a discussion with local training specialists /teacher trainees who will be commenting on their observations.

Guests will hear about the way Finnish teacher education combines theory and practice. They will have a chance to follow live stream from the teacher training school of Helsinki University. This will be followed by a discussion with local teacher training specialists /teacher trainees who will be commenting on their observations.

Guests will learn through two real life examples, software development for AR glasses and user experience research for exoskeleton, how research and project work combined with our multidisciplinary joint use laboratory as a working space enables students to become professional experts.

Supporting learners with special needs in studying and employment

Guests will hear about how students with special needs can be supported in vocational education and training. 

A case video shows how students are trained for work and independent living. Students will learn skills that are essential in the future and they will get support to find their own pathway to working life.

This will be followed by discussion on special needs education with Luovi professionals and the local actors.

Dr. Kirsti Lonka is Professor of Educational Psychology at University of Helsinki, Finland, since 2005. She has worked in many countries on several continents to bring the latest innovations and ideas to Finnish education.
