On February 1-2, 2022, during the Expo Health & Wellness theme week, Education Finland cluster offered invited guests two days of programme on an online platform, enabling an exchange of ideas without compromising the safety of the participants in the current COVID-19 situation. Introduction to KiVa Antibullying Program and its approach in tackling bullying in schools. Participants will also learn the practices and experiences from operating the Program in Finland Oman School (Muscat, Oman).

Supporting students´ well being and building individual learning paths, RUORI as an assessment tool
RUORI is a method for assessing the capacity to function and study. With the help of RUORI, an applicant or student can, in cooperation with experts, assess and identify their studying skills, resources and suitability for vocational studies.

KEYNOTE: Finnish Education during the time of disruption – supporting well-being

Dr Pasi Sahlberg, Professor of Education Policy, University of New South Wales

Pasi Sahlberg is a Finnish educator and author. He has worked as a schoolteacher, teacher-educator, researcher, and policymaker in Finland and advised schools and education system leaders around the world. He is a recipient of several international awards for his lifelong service in education, and in 2013 his book “Finnish Lessons: What Can the World Learn from Educational Change in Finland” won the Grawemeyer Award (USA) for an idea that has potential to change the world. He is currently Professor of Education Policy at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Fostering entrepreneurship

Developing entrepreneurial skills and mindset from K-12 to VET
Finland’s education system has been designed to support entrepreneurial thinking on all levels. The systematic development of entrepreneurial skills and mindset in Finnish education begins with encouraging creativity and individual thinking already in early childhood education and pre-primary education, followed by explicit recognition of entrepreneurial skills and competences during basic education. After 9 years basic education nearly half of all students continue to vocational education and training (VET). A key focus of competence-based and customer-oriented Finnish VET is job creation through entrepreneurship. 
Participants also hear a case example of Future Entrepreneurs Program for Saudi Arabia (2019), implemented by Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP).

Boosting entrepreneurship education in university education
Introduction to tools and pedagogic methods to promote entrepreneurship in university education. The key question is how to encourage teachers and students to behave as entrepreneurs – self-motivated, proactive and able to take the initiative. Participants also hear how Professional training workshop in Boosting entrepreneurship has been implemented in Dammam, Saudi Arabia
